junkbaby – junkbaby EP
junkbaby are a young indie rock band from SW London. They create an eclectic musical blend that goes from soft textures and mellow vibes to distorted guitar tones, courtesy of guitarists Jack, Scotia, and Sean, and Jake’s hard-hitting drums all glued by the alluring and catchy vocal melodies and lyrics from lead singer and award-winning songwriter Leanne.
‘Patience’ was the first single, a mix of hard hitting drums and heavy bass sound, topped with Leanne’s soulful melodies and eerie guitar solos. Radiohead & Duran Duran signer Dave Ambrose approached the band after they performed ‘Patience’ at the BOTB and deemed it a “hit song”.
‘Mother’, their second release, is an emotional song with lyrics that address the journey of lead singer Leanne (15 years old), following the recent death of her mother, Anne-Marie, to whom this song is dedicated. The song has been performed by junkbaby at The Crawdaddy Club, Eel Pie High Tide Festival and Richmond Riverside Music Festival. The artwork used for “Mother” is a painting by Leanne’s mum, a beautiful soul and artist who loved watching junkbaby perform more than anything.
‘Cherry Blossom’, is the third and final track on the EP and represents a step away from more personal accounts and depicts the challenges of a failed relationship.
